SW: Where Science Meets Imagination '08

Posted By Mike on February 14, 2008

We had reported here, that the last US stop for Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination will be at The Science Museum of Minnesota from June 13th to August 24th, 2008.

Well, friend of TFN, Jason P., wrote to let us know that it will also be making a stop at The Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia, PA according to the museum website. No word yet on the exact dates. (though I guess it will be before June 13th) We will keep you posted.

Click here to visit the website of the Franklin Institute.

Thanks Jason!

UPDATE: Megan from the Franklyn Institute was nice enough to get in touch and let us know that the dates for the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit in Philly will be from February 8, 2008 until May 4, 2008. As of now, the only way to get advanced tickets is to become a member of the museum. You can do so by clicking here. Otherwise, we will get you more info as it becomes available.

Thanks Megan!

UPDATE #2: Just a reminder that Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination opens at the Franklyn Institute in Philadelphia this weekend and will run until May 4th.

Click here for a short artile about it at 6abc.com. Note that the article states that the exhibit opens Saturday the 9th, not Friday the 8th as we had previously reported.

UPDATE #3: See below for the release about the Marriott's Star Wars package in Philly:

PHILADELPHIA DOWNTOWN MARRIOTT HOTELS OFFER "STAR WARS" PACKAGE
**Features VIP Ticket Access To Star Wars Exhibit at Franklin Institute February 9 to May 4**

Philadelphia, PA - February 14, 2008 -- Star Wars aficionados who just can't get enough of their futuristic friends may want to take advantage of the new "Star Wars" package currently being offered at three downtown Philadelphia Marriott hotels. This package was designed to take advantage of the new "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination" exhibit taking place now through May 4 at the Franklin Institute.

The "Star Wars" package includes deluxe accommodations at your choice of hotel (Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown, or Residence Inn Philadelphia Center City), plus two VIP tickets to the exhibit. The VIP tickets are untimed and undated so guests can visit the exhibit when it is most convenient for them and they also receive front-of-the-line access to the exhibit through a separate VIP entrance. Rates range from $199 to $319 depending upon the hotel and date selected and are valid through May 3, 2008.

THE EXHIBIT AT THE FRANKLIN INSTITUTE
Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination invites visitors into a unique, immersive exhibit environment where they will be absorbed in hands-on experiences to discover how robots and landspeeders exist in the world of Star Wars, and learn about the important roles that imagination and science play in the creation of increasingly sophisticated machines. In two large Engineering Design labs, visitors get to use the knowledge gained in the exhibit to create and test their own speeders and robots.
