Iain McCaig Joins Episode II Posted By JG on August 16, 2001
Jedi Kiree Alakah gives us a few more tidbits from the opening to the Art of Star Wars:
I just wanted to let you know that there's a video clip of the Art of Star Wars -exhibition in Finland in a Finnish website called Soneraplaza and the link to the video clip is here.
There's a little interview of Anthony Daniels, and Iain McCaig says a few words, too, as does Bj?rn Weckstr?m, the Finnish artist who made the necklace Princess Leia wore in the ending scene of ANH. So, check it out if you want to... The things Anthony Daniels says to the audience in the beginning of the clip are the same things he said to the fans in the artist meeting - but that clip is from Tuesday, when the exhibition was only open for special guests.
By the way, I just thought I'd tell you something about the Art of Star Wars artist meeting that Swordmaster didn't mention in his report. All this probably isn't too interesting, so you probably shouldn't put this on your site (but if you want to, I don't mind)...
- When Anthony Daniels was asked about what C-3PO would want AOTC named, he told us what he would've wanted Episode II to be like: "FADE IN - C-3PO walks in with a blaster in his hand and shoots everybody - FADE OUT". =D
-When I asked about how the costumes of the prequel characters reflect their known futures, Iain McCaig said that in the sketches of TPM, you can find clues of what's coming up in Episodes II and III... he also said this: "And I know where it's all heading to, because George has told me the last line of Episode THREE." He also mentioned that at the moment he's working on Episode III.
-Iain McCaig wasn't going to be working in Episode II, but George Lucas made him change his mind like this: he asked Iain to a photo shoot with some other people, and they all knew that George really didn't need any photos... so everyone were waiting what he had on his mind, until he asked, "So, what do you guys wanna talk about?"... the answer of McCaig was "I don't know", and then George said "Well how about Episode II?" and told them the whole story of the next SW-film, and that's when McCaig decided to start working in AOTC.
-After the audience had asked its questions, they were able to go and take photos of themselves with the artists (who refused to give any autographs because they didn't have enough time).
Well, that's not all I could tell you guys about the meeting, but since you probably wouldn't think it's too interesting, I guess that's all worth saying for now.
