EP3: Details On The ROTS Figures

Posted By Dustin on October 21, 2004

For anyone lucky enough to have caught a peek of the prototypes, there is little doubt that Hasbro is about to deliver their best assortment of prequel figures yet. For the rest of you, follow this link to read descriptions of what you missed.

Today three figure first shots made their way to our hands, and following Hasbro?s request to not show prototypes on the Internet, we thought offer detailed descriptions. First off, judging by the characters shown, one could guess we?re talking about collection 2 figures since there are no visible action features. The three are:

Supreme Chancellor Palpatine

Sporting what appears to be at least twelve points of articulation, this figure is easily the best Palpatine the company has produced. It features ball jointed shoulders and knees, as well as swivel elbows, waist, and wrists. Though it is hard to tell, the figure may have swivel articulation at the top of the boots. Also in question is the neck articulation, which unfortunately cannot be distinguished as either swivel or ball jointed. This figure also comes with a plastic robe, which appears to fit over the figure concealing its torso and legs.

Bail Organa

You remember a figure called the VOTC Han Solo? Well, how would you like a Bail Organa figure with all the same points of articulation? This figure looks heroic, and gives away a bit of his roll in the Star Wars universe. Further more, the head sculpt is the dead on likeness of Jimmy Smits. To accompany a perfect figure, Hasbro added a working holster and what is arguably the best removable plastic robe ever sculpted.

Count Dooku

This figure, if it comes with a cloak, is the definitive Dooku figure. Like the Bail Organa figure, the Dooku is articulated right up to his ears, and could sit comfortably in any vehicle Hasbro produces? actually, they have made some pretty small vehicles, but in theory, this figure?s articulation is amazing and some points, like the knee joint will be invisible on the production toy.

All three figures have little blemishes on them that would appear to be blast point battle damage, but these are most likely identification scars put on in the factory and will not likely end up on the production version. All in all, the Revenge Of The Sith figure assortment is geared to go into toy collecting history as the best Hasbro could do? and they sure did good!
