Wide Theatrical Release of STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH Means Fans Can See the Hottest Movie of the Year on its Opening Weekend
Rave reviews and huge fan anticipation for Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith have set the stage for Twentieth Century Fox and Lucasfilm Ltd. to widely distribute the movie in theaters nationwide to ensure that moviegoers have more opportunities than ever to see Star Wars on its opening weekend. On May 19, Revenge of the Sith will be available in about 3,700 locations - more locations than any previous Star Wars movie. Many locations include multiplexes that will play Revenge of the Sith in as many as five auditoriums, giving patrons all kinds of opportunities to get in on opening weekend.
"Reviewers agree that Revenge of the Sith is a fantastic finale to the Star Wars saga," said Bruce Snyder, President of Domestic Distribution for Twentieth Century Fox. "People want to see this movie as soon as it comes out, and we can't wait for them to get their chance, so we're doing everything we can to make sure that everyone who wants a seat can get a seat on opening weekend."
In Revenge of the Sith, the final and most dramatic chapter of the Star Wars saga, the Clone Wars rage as the rift widens between Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) and the Jedi Council. Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), the young Jedi Knight with an allegiance to Chancellor Palpatine, struggles to keep his marriage to Padme' Amidala (Natalie Portman) a secret amid the turmoil. Seduced by promises of power and temptations of the dark side, he pledges himself to the evil Darth Sidious and becomes Darth Vader. Together, Sidious and Vader set in motion a plot of revenge against the Jedi, leading to a climatic lightsaber battle between Vader and his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), that will decide the fate of the galaxy.
