John checked in to provide some official info that was given to licensees a couple weeks ago. Pay special attention to the 'What's Coming in 2000' part. Lots of good info.

STAR WARS: EPISODE I 1999 UPDATE AND 2000 PROMOTIONAL OVERVIEW

1999 Overview

Star Wars: Episode I was by far the highest grossing film of the year domestically and internationally.

Star Wars: Episode I domestic box office is $429M, the third biggest grossing film of all time.

The total worldwide box office tally to date is $912.7M making Episode I the #3 worldwide box office champ of all time.

85 million theater goers purchased tickets to Episode I in the United States and Canada.

Retail sales of Episode I products will exceed $1 billion in 1999.
Retail sales since inception of Star Wars are in excess of $6 billion.

Star Wars is the #1 boys toy from 1996 through 1999.

Star Wars was the #1 launch in LEGO history.

Star Wars is the #1 film-based franchise in interactive games.

Star Wars is the #1 film based merchandising program in history.

What's Coming in 2000

Spring 2000 - Episode I major sell-through video release.

Support for the video release will come from:

Fox Video - massive advertising and PR campaign.

Pepsi & Frito-Lay - major tie-in promotion supporting a $3 rebate offer.

Hasbro - cross-promotional stickering on millions of toy packages.

LEGO - TV advertising support.

Each video will include a 24 page "value back" with over $70 in coupons on selected Star Wars merchandise.

Spring 2000 - LucasArts "Jedi Power Battles" for Sony Playstation.

Spring 2000 - Episode I paperback release of the best selling novelization to coincide with release of the video.

Fall 2000 - Video re-promotion of Episode I along with a video re-release of the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition.
