I just wanted to share with you a special moment for a fairly new dad at this past weekend's Star Wars Celebration II.
Early in the day on Saturday (our first day), my wife and I decided to separate where I could get in line for the Jorg Sacul figure and she and our four month old daughter could get in line for the autograph coupon books. After two hours of waiting in line, I got a call on my cel phone from my wife (we both brought ours in case we got separated) who asked, "Guess who Elizabeth is playing with?" Of course I had no idea. "Boba Fett," she said. I figured she meant someone dressed as Boba Fett. I guess she knew I didn't comprehend what she was really saying because she added, "Right now, Elizabeth is on Jeremy Bulloch's knee and they are both playing." I nearly fell over. Boba Fett has been my absolute favorite character since the original release of the Empire Strikes Back (I'm 28 years old now) and have a small "shrine" to the character in our computer room at home. I had never met Jeremy Bulloch before and was very much looking forward to finally see him in person after all these years. Here I was stuck in a tremendously slow moving line and I was missing out on something this great, AND my wife didn't have our digital camera. I had the camera with me! Ugh!
From what I was told, my wife was walking by Mr. Bulloch's booth when his associate spotted our daughter wearing a custom Boba Fett tee shirt I made. She ran over to my wife and asked if she could see our baby. She scooped her up and said, "Jeremy, look at her!" He took her on his knee and started playing with her during his autograph session. His assistant took a picture of them both and will hopefully be sending us a copy of the photo (my wife gave her our address). I had missed all of this because I was in line for three and a half hours for the special Celebration figure! Arrgh!
So, when I finally caught up with my wife at the autograph area what seemed like an eternity later, we strolled on by Jeremy's table again. Once he caught a glimpse of Elizabeth again, he started making silly faces which had her giggling. My wife asked if she could have her picture taken with him since we now had our own camera. Jeremy and his associate said "sure" and he reached over to pick her up. He took her on his lap and started playing with her once again and giving her kisses. I attached some photos of the moment which is one I will surely never forget.
I just thought I'd share a pretty proud moment for a new dad who had his little girl meet his life-long Star Wars hero.
