The Force Unleashed Featured in OXM

Posted By Mike on March 15, 2008

Friend of TFN, "Master Devwi", wrote to let us know that The Force Unleashed is featured in the February 2008 issue of OXM (The Official XBox Magazine) "Master Devwi" was nice enough to send along his ciff notes for those of us who aren't subscribers. See below:

"Summer 2008 release date (probably not April, then)

The game will have multiplayer (they doesn’t specify if it’s splitscreen, system link, over Xbox LIVE, or all three)

They are likely going for a Teen rating, so you won’t be able to chop of limbs/heads (like you could do with the cheat code in Star Wars: Jedi Knight II)

You will play the game from a third-person (over-the-shoulder) perspective

You’ll have a different costume for each level

Potential (Minor) Spoiler: The first level LucasArts showed OXM was a TIE-fighter factory where General Kota is hiding

Potential (Minor) Spoiler: Felucia features Shaak Ti, a Rancor, and camouflaged Felucians

Potential (Minor) Spoiler: Raxus Prime is home to a reclusive Jedi with an army of teleporting Force-animated droids

On Raxus Prime, you can hurl turbines as rockets and create huge nets of Force Lighting by hitting superconductors

The Force powers are more impressive than those in previous Star Wars games

You’ll get a lot more Force Powers than just the standard Force Push, Force Pull, Force Grip, and Force Lightening – new powers include Lighting Bomb (a huge explosion of Force Lightning), Repulse (an omni-directional Force Push), and more

Everything you do earns you XP (experience), which allows you to buy new powers like Lightsaber Throw

Redemption is a central theme"

Thanks to "Master Devwi" for looking out for the rest of us. Now if TFU would just get released sooner than later...

UPDATE: Friend of TFN and regular on the Force-Cast message boards, "The Lost Mario Bro." sent in the following: (with a small possible spoiler in the last paragraph)

"In regard to your story about The Force Unleashed featured in OXM, I thought you would be interested to know that the game is also featured in PlayStation Magazine and Nintendo Power. The articles restate what has been mentioned in you article with a few exceptions.

According to Nintendo Power you will control your Lightsaber by moving the Wii remote up, down, left, right, and forward. The Wii exclusive duel mode will have 25 characters to choose from. As for the story the preview says that is will fill in gaps of the Star Wars story between Episodes 3 and 4. It also promises there will be major revelations that long time fans will enjoy.

According to PlayStation Magazine the PS2 and PSP will have their own unique mission inside the Jedi Temple. In the Jedi Temple you will have a confrontation with (possible spoiler) Darth Desolous."

Thanks to "The Lost Mario Bro." for the additional info.

UPDATE #2: The Force Unleashed feature from OXM is now available to check out online right here.

Thanks to "Master Devwi" for the follow up.
