Random Weekend Star Wars Fun (Dec 29&30) Posted By Mike on January 1, 2008
Ah, the holidays; family, friends, Star Wars gifts and good food. Just because we are all in holiday mode and gearing up for the new year, there's no reason to skip some Weekend Star Wars Fun...even if I am a bit late posting it.
Lets start with some goodwill towards others. Click here for a rather short article about the Arkansas Squad of the 501st helping out the Salvation Army.
Have you ever wondered what Porkins would look like in Lego form with a beer keg of an astromech droid? Me too! Luckily our friend Max was aware of our curiosities and sent us the following link to an interview and pics of the Lego work of Mike Crowley. Click here. (Thanks Max!)
Our buddy Eric G. came across some fun Star Wars paper sculptures. Click here to take a peak and if anyone would be so kind as to let us know what the sculpture is above the Naboo Starfighter, we'd really appreciate it. (Thanks Eric)
Yet another friend of TFN, Tom D., sent us an older article from ABC News, titled "Science of 'Star Wars': How Scientists Use the 'Force'." Click here to check it out. (If you had yet to see the article, then it's a brand new one to you! - Thanks Tom)
Finally, if you know what a Chapman Stick is, then you know more than this guy (you can't see it but I have double thumbs pointed at my chest.) Click here to see and hear Guillaume Estace playing "Cantina Band" on this interesting string instrument. (Thanks Scott)
Oh yeah, and HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
UPDATE: After much deliberation and inspection, (ok just a few e-mails) it seems as though the mystery Star Wars paper character in question from above is simply the reverse angle of the droid trooper above it. Thanks to Paula Z for the feedback.
Photo Archive: Two CJ Exclusives! Posted By Curto on July 20, 2008: Here's a few quick photos of some exclusives I picked up at the Celebration store at Celebration Japan. The fan is double-sided with exclusive graphics on either side. The coin features Darth Vader and Yoda, embossed in gold!

Well, here at Celebration Japan, the company is marking the debut of an exciting new line for The Clone Wars, including some REALLY cool prototypes!

So take a tour of the complete gallery...it's impressive. Most impressive.
CJ: Opening Ceremonies Posted By Curto on July 19, 2008: Here's a gallery from Celebration Japan of the Opening Ceremonies. From what I'm told, this was quite a crowd-pleaser, with appearances by Steve Sansweet, Dave Filoni, Lorne Peterson, John Knoll, and a model made up to look like Ahsoka Tano. Lightsabers were given out and used cut the ribbon, officially opening the event.
CJ: Day 1 Line-Up Posted By Curto on July 19, 2008: It's now the second day of Celebration Japan, and I'm finally getting caught up with all the goings-on from the first day! That's the funny thing about conventions...there's NEVER time to see it all and get it all done! So, if you don't mind, let's take a trip back in time to Saturday morning and check out a new gallery of fans waiting in line to get into the hall. This crowd descended into the show with a fury and excitement that was fun to witness. Their first stop? The Celebration store, of course!
The Clone Wars R2-D2 No. 8 Posted By Dustin on July 19, 2008: I scored one of the new Clone Wars R2-D2's recently and have just added a nice photo gallery for all of those who have been afraid to open it. So far, I'm really diggin' this figure, both in design and function. There's a pop on third leg, and rocket boosters, two front door panels with fold up arms, a pop up sensorscope, and one more cool feature you'll have to see the video for. Check out this action packed Artoo right here at R2D2Central.com!
CJ: Schedule Of Events Posted By Jay on July 18, 2008: The show is only a few hours from opening, so those who are attending are going to need their handy dandy schedules. We've got that and a convenient PDF version at our Celebration: Japan scheduling page.
CJ: Setup Day! Posted By Curto on July 18, 2008: We're bring you all the latest news from Celebration Japan! Check out the new gallery taken early in the Setup Day where everyone is working feverishly to get things done before the big show. Not a whole lot to see, but it will be interesting to compare this gallery to the finished hall over the weekend.
CJ: Setup Day - The Vader Project Posted By Curto on July 18, 2008: Celebration Japan hasn't even begun yet, and we've got the first gallery of the helmets on display in The Vader Project! This popular showcase features undergound artists showing off their unique designs painted/sculpted/replacing the helmet of the Dark Lord of the Sith!
CJ: Hasbro 2-Sided Poster In High-Rez! Posted By Curto on July 18, 2008: The Force was with me today! I was able to get my hands on several of the Hasbro action figure posters! Get the full scoop after the jump!
