Well it's about time - after multiple updates to the earlier report of his appearance in the new Star Trek film, we finally have visual (and official) confirmation of R2-D2 and his hidden cameo in JJ Abrams' reboot. The good folks over at GeeksOfDoom.com have posted an article that contains a screen capture of the exact scene in which our favorite astromech droid can be spotted floating in space.

R2 has had a busy schedule this year, as he also made a quick appearance in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
