R2-D2 Pops Up In Star Trek

Posted By Mike on June 11, 2009

Apparently our favorite astromech pops up in the new Star Trek film as an Easter Egg. If you've seen the film and know the scene that features R2-D2's cameo, then click here and enter the "STAR TREK Easter Egg Sweepstakes" on Facebook for your chance to win a prop from the film.

UPDATE: ClubJade.net points us over to Gizmodo where they have narrowed down to two possible locations of R2 in the new Star Trek film. Check out the pics below but follow the Gizmodo link for descriptions.

UPDATE #2: Our friend Doug ("sepulbadoug") says he found R2 in Star Trek and that the previous update may have been wrong...

"Just saw Star Trek and because the Sweepstakes is over, there's no point in submitting my answer, but thought I'd tell you where R2 is. By the way, Gizmodo has it wrong.

After Vulcan is attacked, Spock, Bones and Kirk are on a shuttle leaving the Federation facilities near San Francisco and headed for the Enterprise. As the shuttle leaves, the scene cuts to an overfly shot of an area of the Federation grounds that looks like a refinery of some sort, with large pipes and equipment.

R2-D2 and a man can be seen in silhouette on the ground, amongst the equipment and pipes."

Thanks Doug!

UPDATE #3: The official location of R2-D2 in Star Trek has been revealed! Click here and scroll down to the bottom of the page for a description of his appearance. Figured we'd handle it that way in case anyone still wants to try to find him for themselves.

UPDATE #4: Possible blurry pic of R2 over at Gizmodo.

Thanks Jonathan!
