Next up in the main site's on-going series celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back is this article written by Gus Lopez that examines the history of the extremely rare Kenner Diecast TIE Bomber from 1980.

"Kenner's Diecast TIE Bomber is one of the rarest vintage Kenner Star Wars toys of all time. Prior to the premiere for The Empire Strikes Back, Kenner released a series of small diecast metal vehicles based on Star Wars: A New Hope, such as the Landspeeder, X-Wing, Y-Wing, and Millennium Falcon. As the line continued with the release of Empire, new diecast vehicles were introduced such as Slave I, Cloud Car, and Snowspeeder, along with updated packaging for the first wave of toys. The TIE Bomber is only seen briefly in Empire such as in the bombing run on the large asteroid where the Falcon is hiding from Vader's fleet. The TIE Bomber was introduced as a late entry among Kenner's diecast ships, just before Kenner decided to cancel the line entirely."
