Toronto Episode III Line-Up Posted By Britany on May 4, 2005
Press Release
The Long Line for Star Wars is coming!
At 7:00 pm on Friday, May 13th, the Toronto Long Line, a group of local film enthusiasts, will be congregating in front of the Sheppard Centre Grande Cinemas to line up for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, opening on May 19th. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith marks the release of the final chapter in the Star Wars Saga, and also concludes Toronto's trilogy of lines. The group has previously formed a two-week line to celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and a week-long line for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Following the premiere, the group will continue to meet and continue the tradition of taking common interests and spinning them into friendships.
Tickets are already on sale online and at the box office, but that does not seem to deter members of the Toronto Long Line. "The line is more than seeing the movie; it is a social experience," says Greg Dillane, "I met some of my best friends in the Star Wars lines."
Dan Duggan, who joined the group during the line for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, relates: "For being a relative outsider coming into an already established group of people, I was a bit nervous at first but everyone was very nice and cool. Everyone treated me like an old friend.
For the duration of the week-long event, the Toronto Long Line will be holding a food drive in support of the North York Harvest Food Bank. According to Adam Richardson, one of the line's organizers, "Our food drive during our previous line for Attack of the Clones was a big success, collecting over 300 pounds of food. This time, we hope to collect even more donations for those who are less fortunate." Bins will be present for the duration of the Episode III line to accept donations from line members and the general public.
Some of the diehards intend to stay on the sidewalk around the clock for the full week, however others who are unable to may come and go as they please. The line is intended as a fun and informal setting where Star Wars fans from all walks of life can gather and share in the Star Wars experience while doing something positive for their community.
