On Location: Part 5
Assistant Director Paul Sullivan

Summary by: Don Keefe

(Please note that the following comments are my opinions and speculations regarding the production of Episode II and do not necessarily reflect those of TheForce.net)

This On Location clip was introduced by an actress I didn’t recognize. It seems to be the same bar/restaurant though from the other clips judging from the purple neon in the background.

This latest On Location wasn’t terribly interesting to be honest. It’s cool from the perspective that you get to see the people behind the scenes. However there was not too much on EP2 in this 2 minute and 10 second clip with A.D. Paul Sullivan. This clip takes place outside one of the stages on the Fox Studio lot. They do not indicate which one they are next to. Below is an overhead shot of the stages from the Fox Studios Australia website.

A view of Stage 2, The Charles Chauvel Stage, followed by Stages 3 to 6.

This interview takes place in front of a bus outside one of the stages on the Fox Studios lot. It’s funny to see everyone wearing jackets and sweaters since it’s summer time here, but it’s only in the 40’s and 50’s there. Ahmed says this clip is AD stylin. He also says the A.D. looks into space, sees nothing, listening all the time Which pretty much sums up this 2-minute clip.

Ahmed repeatedly refers to the A.D. stare which must be an inside joke but this is an example.

This is Paul Sullivan. Paul is the second to the second Assistant Director on Episode 2. (A lot of twos there.) What does that mean exactly? Well, Sullivan, is the right hand to the director. He hangs out on the set and makes sure everything goes smoothly. He runs the call sheets, makes sure the actors get into makeup and costume so they are ready for filming. He also makes sure everyone knows what’s going on, on the set.

During this interview Paul is constantly listening to a lot of people talking about various things going on around the stage through his earpiece. Every now and then he stops the interview to talk to someone on his microphone. (The headset is pretty cool).

Another example of the A.D. stare.

At the end of the interview Paul escapes from Ahmed and the filming crew on his golf cart.
