On Location: Part 2
The Lowdown with Nick Gillard

Summary by: Don Keefe

(Please note that the following comments are my opinions and speculations regarding the production of Episode II and do not necessarily reflect those of TheForce.net)

This actress introduces the second installment of "On Location". I?m not exactly sure which actress this is though. She does have an Australian accent.

Once again Ahmed is doing interviews with crewmembers. In this video, which is much shorter than the first, (1 min 30 sec versus 5 min 13 sec for the first one) he interviews Nick Gillard. This is the first time that Star Wars fans have actually been able to see video of an actual set during production before the movie is released. I hope we get to see more sets in upcoming installments.

If you look closely over Ahmed?s left shoulder you can see one, possibly two actors presumably in costume walking by. Unfortunately It is very blurry and difficult to make out. The actor on the left appears to be wearing a green overcoat or robe of some kind.

Another exciting thing that can be seen during this very short video is what I believe to be a Jedi. (On Ahmed?s right in the background I highlighted him with a red arrow.) This definitely looks to be a Jedi in the traditional brown robe. It is mentioned while Ahmed is interviewing Nick that they are preparing to shoot a scene in which 8 people are blown up on a ramp.

The interview with Nick was done lying on the floor. Why? Because Nick was standing in for one of the actors, they weren?t quite ready yet. Nick said, ?It looked easy enough?. I think I agree. Nick Gillard is the stunt coordinator and sword master for the Star Wars films. He writes and choreographs the lightsaber battles and teaches them to the actors. (See below). As mentioned above, this scene involved people being blown up and a Jedi can be seen in the background. Could this be a scene where Anakin loses someone close to him?

Nick on the set with Obi-Wan and Darth Maul during the filming of Episode 1. He is on the right in both pictures.
