On Location: Part 11
Everybody Was Jedi Fighting

Ishi Tib is the name of the bigheaded green alien next to Trisha.

Summary by: Don Keefe

(Please note that the following comments are my opinions and speculations regarding the production of Episode II and do not necessarily reflect those of TheForce.net)

Once again a beautiful woman at the bar/restaurant that we have all seen before introduces this On Location.
Talk about taking butterfly collars to the extreme.

We join this sword fight already in progress. This On Location is very short at only :48 seconds. Still it’s pretty interesting to see a glimpse of how Nick Gillard trains the actors on how to become true Jedi swordsmen. The sticks that they use are hollow steel poles.

More fighting.

Remember this move. Compare the picture on the left with the picture from Episode I. In case you didn’t notice this is the choreography from the Qui-Gon and Darth Maul fight sequence at the Theed Power Generator. Well, only 20 seconds worth.

Ahmed: Nick Gillard just showed me a lightsaber move!! I didn’t get to do that in Episode I and I’m not doing that in Episode II either. It’s just too much.

(If you notice the lightsaber Ahmed’s using was once used by a Sith who’s now only half the man he used to be. Sorry I couldn’t resist.)

This is of course is Nick Gillard, stunt coordinator extraordinaire. This is his second appearance in the “On Location” series. He always seems to be flashing gang signs though as seem in this picture. Nick is using Obi-Wan’s saber from Episode I. You can see it behind Ahmed’s left shoulder in the first picture.

Gavin Bocquet the Production designer for Episode I and II makes a special guest appearance in this On Location clip riding his bike.
You can see in the background that they are still at Fox Studios in Australia, outside stage number 5.
