On Location: Part 1

Summary by: Don Keefe

(Please note that the following comments are my opinions and speculations regarding the production of Episode II and do not necessarily reflect those of TheForce.net)

Susie Porter introduces the first On Location in costume. This was reported by TFN earlier this month. Notice the restaurant in the background. It?s hard to say whether or not this is the same one that was featured in the Select Picture feature on StarWars.com recently. The lights and neon are not consistent with the Select Picture.

This is where Ahmed Best (aka Jar Jar) begins his tour of the production studios at the Fox Studios in Sydney Australia. According to him and the sign the offices are located in building 28 under the name JAK (JAK Productions is the name for Lucas' prequel production company).

This is a map of Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia. I?m assuming the production office is located somewhere among the sound stages.

The first stop on the tour inside is a conference room. It?s really dark inside. I?ve had to lighten this picture just so you could see the details. There was some writing on the white board (behind Ahmed in this picture) but it is impossible to read. Wouldn?t you like to be a fly on the wall in this room?

This is the first person that Ahmed interviews. Her name is Kimberly. She does not reveal her exact job title but it does involve putting people on hold a lot. Notice the EP1 promo poster behind them on the wall. There?s an EP1 movie poster to the right behind Ahmed.

The second person to be interviewed is Felicity a production assistant. It was not clear from the interview if she works for Fox Studios or for Lucas. She says in her interview that they are very busy working on call sheets like the one pictured below.? The call sheets have to be done by 7:00 am. They contain information for that days shooting, such as actors, sets, props, makeup etc. Notice the pictures on the wall to Felicity?s left in the second photo. I wonder if these are personal pictures or production photos?

Ahhh.. the much coveted call sheet. In the video Ahmed flashes it in front of our eyes tauntingly. The only things I can make out are the date, which is 6/28/00, and possibly a name in the ?To:? field Stacy or Tracy Lindeman. Other than that the rest is impossible to make out.

I?m not sure of this guy?s name because it?s difficult to make out in the video. He is a production assistant from what I can tell although his job title is not really revealed. He is in charge of getting all the actors to the set. He tells them what day and time they need to arrive for costume, makeup and filming. He also assists in making travel arrangements for the actors. He says that they were expecting Sam Jackson and Christopher Lee to be arriving soon. They already have since this video was shot. This was shot presumably 6/28 going by the date on the call sheet. ?He did not say whether or not Sam and Christopher were filming a scene together. We already know that Sam Jackson had finished his scenes in July and would return in August. Notice the large photo of Jude Law in the background.

This is Jackie. She is George Lucas and Rick McCallum?s personal assistant. What a job! She?s responsible for making sure they receive all their email, faxes and phone messages. She makes sure everything runs smoothly for George and Rick while they are shooting in Sydney. She says during her interview that she?s having a good day except that she fell off her bike because she does not have any balance.

The End. Ahmed says ?Episode 2, Production Offices, we?ll be right back at you, peace.?
