Star Wars CCG Online "Classic" and "Episode VI" Tournament Info
 Posted By Josh on April 17, 2007
I have tweaked the way internet tournaments are going to work since the previous set-up appeared to be too much of an online time commitment for most. Tournaments will now be a little over two hours and comprise two games each week; the results will accumulate from week to week; winners will be announced at the end of a month (or series of months in some cases). Hopefully this--combined with the Ladder bonus points--will encourage increasing tournament attendance.
Both of the Classic and Episode 6 formats are excellent environments for those that have never played the Star Wars CCG (or never played it online). The Classic format have removed a couple hundred cards, including controversial and overly powerful cards as well as nearly 50% of the virtual cards. The Episode 6 format has gone a step further and removed objectives to give players an even more unique experience!
If you don't know where to start or how to build a deck, you can download a pre-constructed deck for the Episode VI format or the Classic format (link provided)! This way you can jump right online and get started playing (or learning) right away!
Tournaments will occur on consistent days, so if you cannot join us one week, hopefully you can do so the following week.
Format: Classic (only cards with the "Classic" icon are legal) Type: Star Wars CCG WWL Sanctioned; Two-game Swiss pairings Time: Every Sunday @ 1.00pm EST (GMT - 4) - tournaments are about two (2) hours Where: Holotable Lobby Prizes: First Place - One (1) virtual card uncut sheet set (winner's choice)
There are no Starting Effects in the Classic Format. However there are still Defensive Shields. A deck may have up to three (3) Defensive Shields, which DO NOT count against the 60-card deck limit. In a Classic format game, players simultaneously play their Defensive Shields BEFORE any other starting cards are revealed.
Results are cumulative week to week. Winner of the tournament (to be determined at the end of each month) will get +3 points added to the Ladder totals. Second and third place will recieve bonus points if attendance is high enough.
Pre-constructed decks for this format (as well as the Star Wars CCG Holotable freeware program if you don't have it already and the rules to play the Star Wars CCG) can be located in this recent TFN story.
================================
Format: Episode VI (decks may only contain cards with an "Episode 6" icon; just enter "Episode 6" into the icon filter in Holodeck to get the full list of legal cards) Type: Star Wars CCG WWL Sanctioned; Two-game Swiss pairings Time: every Friday, April - June @ 8.00pm EST (GMT - 4) - tournaments will last about two (2) hours Where: gather in the Holotable lobby
All scores are cumulative from week to week. Winner of the tournament (to be determined in June) will get +5 points added to the Ladder totals. Second and third place will recieve +3 and +1 bonus points respectively. Players MUST be registered members of the Star Wars CCG WWL.
April Bonus Points Once per week per player bonus league points (screenshot required): +5 points for each LS player who targets Jabba with Strangle (and causes him to be lost) OR places Jabba out of play +5 points for each DS player who eats a unique character with Sarlacc
Episode 6 Pre-constructed Decks (Holotable only): (NOTE: Right-click and "Save Target As" these files onto your hard drive) Light Side Tatooine, Endor Strike Team, Rebel Fleet
Dark Side Jabba's Palace, The Sanctuary Moon, The Second Death Star
