Essential Reader's Companion Tidbits

The Star Wars Books on Facebook page strikes again! If you are an EU fan, you gotta love all the teases, previews, and nuggets of info that come out of Del Rey's FB page on a seemingly daily basis. Today, Erich Schoeneweiss started by simply noting that he was working on Star Wars: The Essential Reader's Companion...

I'm working on editing some chapters of Pablo Hidalgo's new book, STAR WARS: THE ESSENTIAL READER'S COMPANION (available next August) and looking forward to seeing initial design layouts for the book in the next few days. Hope to be able to share some of this with you soon. (ES)"

But Erich's answer to a fan question (in the comments of the post) regarding what content would be included is what brought forth the good stuff...

"Yes, there will be original content. Although this book is not being written from an in-universe perspective as the other Essential Guides are. The book will detail all the novels, young adult novels, short stories, and ebook original stories that have been published since 1976 while also providing behind the scenes information about many of the stories along with other fun things. And the book will feature original full color paintings by Jeff Carlisle and Chris Trevas. I'm really excited about it and thrilled to be working on it with Pablo, Jeff, and Chris. And I'm lucky and blessed that Sue Rostoni agreed to continue working on this book in a freelance capacity. The book chronicles so many of the stories she helped shape for 20 years that to have her knowledge and experience available to Pablo and myself is a priceless resource for a project like this. (ES)"

As Erich noted in the first quote above, look for Pablo Hidalgo's Star Wars: The Essential Reader's Companion to arrive right around the same time we're all gearing up for Celebration VI. In other words, the release is currently scheduled for August 2012.
