The Clone Wars Takes Home Voice Acting Trophies

Posted By Eric on May 2, 2013

The organization Behind The Voice Actors has announced the winners of the 20th annual BTVA Voice Acting Awards and the results are great for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series was nominated in six categories for the 2012 TV season, with several TCW alumni competing for the same awards. Here are the results:

Best Male Lead Vocal Performance in a Television Series - Action/Drama: James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Plo Koon, won the BTVA Staff Choice and People's Choice awards.

Best Female Lead Vocal Performance in a Television Series - Action/Drama: Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano, was nominated and she won the People's Choice award. Janet Varney from The Legend of Korra won the Staff Choice award.

Best Male Vocal Performance in a Television Series in a Supporting Role - Action/Drama: Clancy Brown (as Savage Opress), Corey Burton (as Cad Bane), and Sam Witwer (as Darth Maul) were nominated, as was series regular Dee Bradley Baker for The Legend of Korra. Burton received the Staff Choice award in this category.

Best Female Vocal Performance in a Television Series in a Supporting Role - Action/Drama: Nika Futterman (as Asajj Ventress) won both the Staff and People's Choice awards.

Best Male Vocal Performance in a Television Series in a Guest Role: David Tennant (as Huyang) was nominated and he won the People's Choice award. David Sobolov from Transformers: Prime won the the Staff Choice award.

Best Vocal Ensemble in a Television Series - Action/Drama: The Clone Wars as a whole was nominated and it won the People's Choice award. Young Justice won the Staff Choice award.

That makes three Staff Choice and five People's Choice wins for Star Wars: The Clone Wars in the 2012 BTVA Awards. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew -- and especially the winners -- for this much-deserved recognition!

The Clone Wars seems to be riding a surge of industry nods this week. Just yesterday, the series and its cast and crew were nominated for seven Daytime Emmy Awards.
