March 20th Pick-Ups: Warwick Davis as Yoda? Posted By Brian on March 23, 1999
It might seem a little late for pick-ups but apparently some of the TPM crew returned to Leavesden late last week, dusted off the cameras, and did a few quick takes. One wonders just what could be revisited this late in the production process. Several folks present at the Sci-Fi convention in New York last weekend wrote in to tell us they had heard that the reason actor Warwick Davis had to cancel his appearance there was because he was needed at Leavesden for pick-ups!
Many readers have pointed out a comment in the latest Entertainment Weekly that also indicated a final bit of shooting on March 20th. Well, an anonymous source just wrote in to inform us that Lucas is not entirely pleased with the way that Yoda is currently presented in TPM, and that he is trying a different approach by putting Warwick in a Yoda creature suit. This might sound ludicrous at first, and just fanboy musings based on the luke warm reaction to Yoda's appearance in the first teaser trailer. We can assure you that this isn't the case. Apparently this is an experimental shoot, and if it looks better than the original they'll use it.
UPDATE! The infamous Bothan Spy has checked in with a report confirming that Warwick Davis HAS been in London for the reshoots. They also reported that it was an extremely short shooting period and a totally closed set. It was also reported that the filming was done with bluescreen only.
Whew! Not much time left for digital postproduction if they are filming in front of bluescreen! Although we are confident they can get the film finished on time! I mean, hey, they just moved the film's release up several days, right?
Thanks for the report Bothan!
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
