According to CDNow.com, Lucasfilm has filed a lawsuit in against Dr. Dre, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records concerning the "THX Deep Note" being used on his latest album Chronic 2001. The lawsuit was filed in Northern California on April 14th.

The report states...

The suit alleges that Dr. Dre originally asked permission to use the sound and whereby that permission was denied, the rapper used it anyway. The lawsuit reads, in part, "Defendants willfully copied and used Lucasfilm's THX Deep Note without consent, by recording, producing, distributing, advertising, selling, and/or offering for sale infringing works and products incorporating Lucasfilm's protected THX Deep Note, and have caused said infringing works and products to enter into commerce and/or be transported or used in commerce."
