Footsoldiers have been seen on the Official Site and on the Galoob Theed Playset. Text on the packaging states:

"The small planet of Naboo has been invaded. A force of battle droids has been sent to take over the queen's palace. Captain Panaka and the queen's footsoldiers race in their sleek Gian speeder to resist the onslaught."

Is it just me, or does the soldier to the right look like Lt. Cmdr. Data?

The footsoldiers we saw in Diary 7 are the main fighting force of Naboo. They wear mustard and brown-coloured leather uniforms. Video Diary 7 gives us the first official confirmation of these soldiers, about whom we have posted sketches and information in the past.

The Palace Guards (under the authority of Captain Panaka) wear red and black, and are responsible specifically for protecting the Palace.

And then there are the Royal Guards, who guard the royal family of Naboo. These look similar to the red royal guards in Return of the Jedi, but wear blue robes instead. Apparently, there will be some significance when Palpatine, upon becoming Emperor, adopts these guards as his own personal guards and changes their robes to red.

1/20/98 - We have just received confirmation that the Prequel weapons picture we received is genuine. All guns have been modified for visual effects, but the base models are (from top to bottom): Walther .22 target pistol, Calico 950A (as was reported here a couple of weeks ago), and Hammerli Mod 30. Weapons based on the design of the Stormtrooper blasters (Sterling sub-machine guns) were also reported.

Naboo Officers have been using the Walther pistols, while the Naboo Foot Soldiers used the Calicos.
