"Has anyone else noticed the following bits from Palpatine's biography on the official site? "[I]t was through [Palpatine's] influence that the Obi-Wan's apprentice later became the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader." Two things here: first, "the Obi-Wan" makes it seem as if Obi-Wan is a title rather than a name. Also striking is the ambiguous language about Darth Vader's identity--the biographies of Anakin, Luke, and Darth all only hint at the Vader/Anakin connection. Finally, the last line of Palpy's bio: "Pitting Vader against Skywalker, with all their psychological threats for each other, is all part of the Emperor's plan, and he remains evilly confident that no matter who is killed, he will settle the balance of the Force to his satisfaction." The balance of the Force--hint or joke by the fellas at starwars.com? Also of note, the term "New Order" is seemingly used ad infintum on the various character pages instead of the term "Empire." " |
"In many of the books (post ROTJ), the Empire is referred to as the "New Order". This also carries a connotation of strict dislike for nonhumans and women serving in the military and in civilian positions. Great if you're a guy, huh?" |

"Everyone should make sure to read as much of the new starwars.com info as their hardware can handle. I know its only been four days, but I've still seen sites posting rumors that have been totally debunked by the new stuff on the Official Site (such as the inane idea that Liam Neeson's character becomes the emperor). Please don't make stupid suggestions if you haven't at least looked at everything there. Regarding

"very very intresting material although the new uptadted site is a bit off BALANCE shall we say ( no pun intended) giving only tiny bits of prequel info on some characters but not on others like r2 and c-3po I agree that obiwan is a title and now that it has been pointed out it seems very likely , although who really belives that you will not find out that anikan is darth vader in the prequels I think the web site is made this way as not to spoil it for anyone who has not seen the current starwars trilogy (not as unbelievble as you think , a friend of mine did not know that darth and luke were related as she had only ever seen star wars!!!) this to me is confirmed in the way that the ending of jedi is only hinted at as well see darths section and the emperors section where the final lighsaberduel is not concluded only hinted at in darths section" |

"Just a few thoughts on the revamped website. If in fact Mr. Lucas is giving us some "spoiler" information albeit it dirertly or indirectly then the episode 1 photo collage could hold some important clues in Anakin's life and ultimately his destiny. In the photo you see a young Anakin running towards Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi (all three Jedis) and he is, or appears to be, running from Queen Padme. This
is interesting because if published rumor holds true Anakin is

suppose that as a man he runs from her to follow these Jedi "on

"in response to the things about the Emperor. the idea of Obi Wan being akind of title is nothing new, is it? That was mentioned before regarding the similarity between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. ie jedi rank names or something. Maybe Yodas name is really Yo-Da (na. thats just a joke). The thing is, it says on the same sight that Obi Wan changed his name to Ben once he realised that he had failed with Anakin, and instead of waiting to be slaughtered by Vader, he scarpered to Tatooine. It doesn't say he changed his name back. But maybe he was called Brian Kenobi or something... The other thing that seems to indicate that Obi-Wan is a title is the name Obi-Wan Bunji, which George apparently is toying with the idea of introducing as a new character in episode three when the Jedi get the dodo treatment. But why does Vader constantly refer to Kenobi as Obi-Wan? is that like always calling someone General or Captain? I guess time will tell." |

got me thinking. I don't think it would be too far-fetched that

"I'd like to respond to what Jamie Wire wrote. I think the reason that in their duel, Darth Vader keeps calling Kenobi, Obi-Wan is because it's like a mocking...... I mean
here is this POWERFUL sith Lord, in the heart of the DEATH star,
I got your "Obi-Wan" right here, he seems to be saying." |
"To Jason,I think thats a good theory about Vader mocking Obi Wan. I mean lets look at through Vader point of view ( or a certain point of view as Obi Wan would say) Obi Wan is not as young as he used to be, and (lets consider this he would probably die in the fight, which he did. And Luke was just a puny no gooder (sorry Luke) who was untrained in the force. So what is Vader thinking? Obi Wan your getting nothing done but getting yourself killed. What am I thinking? VADER QUIT THE STRANGLING AND GET A LIFE!" |
