"What
know you of ready?!"
New
dialogue: Obi-Wan and Yoda!
I asked
Jedi Killer if he knew what the picture of Obi-Wan kneeling before Yoda
is about. Here's his reply (highlight to read):
"This
has to be a scene Lucas decided to include at the last minute. He must
have made it up during filming, because it's not in the script. It's probably
a scene towards the end, taking place in the Theed Palace. Perhaps Yoda
is pleading
with
Obi-Wan not to train Anakin, and Obi-Wan telling Yoda that he must, because
it was his promise to Qui-Gon. That's my guess."
Jedi
Killer continues (highlight to read):
"I'm
glad Lucas decided to include another Obi-Wan / Yoda scene since, as
it
was, they really only had one moment in the film together: in the Jedi
Council. Here's what happens: the Council members have tested Anakin and
agree that the Force is strong with him; however, they tell Qui-Gon he
is not to be trained...
QUI-GON:
He is the chosen one... you see it in him.
YODA:
Clouded is this boy's future. His youth masks his fate.
QUI-GON:
I will train him, then. I take Anakin as my Padawan learner.
YODA:
An apprentice you have, Qui-Gon. Not wise to take on a second.
QUI-GON:
Obi-Wan is ready...
OBI-WAN:
I am ready to face the trials!
YODA:
Ready so early, are you? What know you of ready?
Are
we going to see Obi-Wan's "trials" in Episode II..?"
Thanks
to Jedi Killer for the information! I love these few lines of dialogue,
and especially the last two lines, since they immediately remind us of
a very similar situation between Luke and Yoda on Dagobah! |
