Star Wars: Empire At War

Posted By Tom on December 30, 2004

Over the holidays we received several e-mails about a new Star Wars Real Time Strategy game (the same type of game as Battlegrounds) coming this Fall. Empire at War got its World Debut in British PC Zone Magazine (February, 2004 Issue 151). Waxifrade has the following to say about the article.

This new PC game is set two years before ANH with a certain amount of cross over from Episode 3. Screen shots look superb. It appears to include ground battles set in dessert and greenland areas with attacking AT-AT's and a new Imperial ground based vehicle called "TIE Crawlers" which I've not seen before (cross between a tank and a TIE Fighter). The action also takes place in space with rebel fleets taking on Star Destroyers (think of the game Homeworld). Unsure when the game will be released as it is in the early phases of development.

Axel from Bothan-Online covers the story (in French, I think) and tells us "We met last month someone who represented Lucas Arts in Europe. In this interview, he told us there would be a new RTS in [Autumn] 2005." The game is being developed by Petroglyph, one of the studios involved in the Command and Conquer series.
