As we previously announced, there is a Star Wars LEGO game in development, and it seems StarWars.com has picked up on the story! It sheds a bit more light on the game than we were able to, in a short three paragraph article:
The LEGO Company, LucasArts, game publishers Giant Interactive Entertainment and developer Traveller's Tales have joined together to create a new Star Wars action-adventure video game that will allow players to live all of the adventures of the most memorable and exciting scenes from the prequel eras of the Star Wars universe.
From lightsaber duels to frantic space combat, the action, characters and vehicles from Episodes I, II and III will all be playable in a new LEGO way. The game boasts two-player "drop-in/drop-out" cooperative play throughout; with the unique LEGO "Free Play" mode players can take both light side and dark side characters into unique situations. The game also gives players the opportunity to build, move, and transform LEGO objects through the use of the Force.
Attendees of Comic-Con International will get a first-hand look at the game this week! The game will be released in conjunction with an exciting new range of LEGO play materials in April, 2005, prior to the much-anticipated May 19th release date of the Star Wars Episode III movie. The game will be released for console and PC.
Some things remain unanswered here though. "From lightsaber duels to frantic space combat, the action, characters and vehicles from Episodes I, II and III will all be playable in a new LEGO way." Just how much about Episode 3 will be revealed by the game?
