Tom Yee, author of the Invasion of Cardassia mod for Battle of Endor, is back at it, this time with a Tron-style mod for Battle of Yavin.

In case you have never seen the classic 80s film, TRON is a fantasy movie set in the near-future (ahem, the late 90s! Let me say again: the movie was made in the early eighties) when an intelligent computer program, the MASTER CONTROL PROGRAM or MCP, begins to spread itself to every computer mainframe on the planet in a plot to take control of mankind. The only hope against a future of digital tyranny? TRON - another intelligent program created to take down the MCP and "derezz" him for good. He is helped along on his mission by Flynn, a human being (or "user") who has been digitized into the videogame world that exists inside the mainframe at ENCOM, and Yori, TRON's love interest.
TRON RECOGNIZER loosely follows the plot of the movie, with the gamer playing TRON and leading a squadron of Blue Recognizers into the MCP's domain. Along the way, you'll encounter the same enemies from the film - namely, the evil Red Recognizers, Sark's carrier, scores of battle tanks and those pesky grid bugs.
Because this game installs over Battle of Yavin, you'll need the standard requirements for Battle of Yavin, but you will also need to have installed the latest version of Battle of Yavin, version 1.1.
- DirectX 8.1
- 1.4 Ghz and higher processors (you can experience lower framerates on slower processors)
- 3D Graphics Card
- Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP
You can download the Tron mod from the TFN Server
. Please note you will need the latest version of Battle of Yavin
Feel free to discuss this in our Jedi Council Forums
We also have the README from the game file.
