More Lucas Talking TCW

Posted By Mike on August 6, 2008

io9.com has "George Lucas Spills All About Clone Wars at Skywalker Ranch" which breaks down some of the details to come out of Monday's press conference at Skywalker Ranch. Click here for the article and see Lucas' quote below regarding to Assaj Ventress: (via ClubJade.net)

"Ventress was developed for Attack of the Clones — early on, they thought they'd have Sidious' apprentice after Maul be a woman. Then they abandoned the idea of having Ventress be the next apprentice and used Dooku instead. But the concept art was there [pictured above] — they'd developed this character. We thought, "That's a fan fave character [from the Expanded Universe] so let's draw her out." So now you have these two new women coming into the story at the same time — one is Anakin's apprentice and the other is Dooku's. That worked out very nicely for the story we wanted to tell."

MTV also covered the press conference and you can see their article, '"Star Wars' Mastermind George Lucas Explains Why He Pushed Anakin Skywalker Aside For 'Clone Wars'" right here. Excerpt below:

"When I was a kid, imagining that there were other Jedi Knights beyond Yoda was incredible. We've never really seen those other characters fully developed, and that's one thing we can really get into in this movie and in this series," (Dave Filoni) told MTV News. "Also, there are a lot of the clones that we can get involved with on the front lines and see just how they all contributed to this great republic that we always heard about in 'Star Wars' and how it falls apart and becomes an empire."

UPDATE: Just something fun to point out...In the video on the MTV.com link, The Maker definitley mentions multiple animated and live-action TV series. Just food for thought...

Thanks Josh!
