Anna Graves Talks TCW "Bounty Hunters"

Posted By Mike on April 8, 2010

At this point we know that most fans of The Clone Wars are looking ahead to this week's episode, "The Zillo Beast" (S2 Ep. 18). That being said, we got a fantastic episode last week with "Bounty Hunters," and SW.com's Pete Vilmur posted a short interview with the voice of Sugi, Anna Graves. As a number of the TCW voice-cast pull double duty, Anna is also the voice of Dutchess Satine of Mandalor. Check out the intro below and then make sure to click here for the interview.

"If there's one thing that can be expected of a bounty hunter in the Star Wars galaxy, it's the unexpected.

We shouldn't be too surprised, then, to discover that Sugi, a Zabrak bounty hunter cut from the same cloth as one notorious horn-skulled Sith Lord, possesses that rarest of qualities among mercenaries of the criminal underworld: a code of honor.

Anna Graves, who voices the role of Sugi for "Bounty Hunters", returns to The Clone Wars after her memorable performance as the Duchess Satine from the Mandalore episodes -- fitting, given the characters both share a penchant for grit and tenacity in the face of conflict (see our previous interview with Anna Graves here).

Sugi, who forms a fragile alliance with the Jedi in order to protect the Felucians from pirates, earns her band of bounty hunters a measure of respect and gratitude at the end of the day, and perhaps even a dash of nobility.

We asked Graves (who also voices the bounty hunter Rumi in this episode) a few questions about her shift from regal emissary to noble mercenary, and what she thought of The Clone Wars homage to Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai:"

Make sure to also chck out TFN's review of "Bounty Hunters" as well as the just-posted ForceCast Roundtable.
