Zorba was Jabba the Hutt's father, a huge Hutt with stringy white hair and a white beard. The fact that he had hair at all, let alone a full head and beard's worth, made Zorba something of a mutant among his fellow Hutts. He kept his hair braided, in order to keep it from falling into his face. Zorba was 400 years old when he birthed Jabba, and taught Jabba everything he could about the politics of Nal Hutta's criminal organizations. Just as ruthless and conniving as Jabba, Zorba was imprisoned on Kip for illegally mining ulikuo gemstones when Jabba was killed on Tatooine. When Zorba was set free by a group of pirates who attacked Kip, he returned to Tatooine, hoping to join his son's empire. It was later discovered that Zorba's escape had been engineered by Ysanne Isard, in an effort to recapture Cloud City. When Zorba found that Jabba had been killed by Princess Leia, he immediately sought her out for revenge. On this path, he won Cloud City from Lando Calrissian in a rigged sabacc match. He then tried to swap the Jedi Prince Ken for Princess Leia, who was being held by Trioculus. Leia and Ken escaped, and Zorba had Trioculus entombed in carbonite. After capturing Leia on Hologram Fun World, Zorba tried to take her to the Great Pit of Carkoon, on Tatooine, to feed her to the Sarlacc. He was intercepted by the Grand Moffs, who unfroze Trioculus, captured Leia, and then threw Zorba into the Sarlacc Pit. Fortunately for Zorba, the Sarlacc spit him out.
