this young man was a student at the Jedi praxeum on Yavin 4, during the early stages of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. Kenth was born to wealthy parents, and was tall and well-built. Prior to his Jedi training, Hamner had been a member of the Corellian Defense Force, but resigned his commission to follow the Force. He later joined the New Republic military as a strategist, and earned the rank of Colonel. After the Battle of Fondor, Hamner became the voice of the Jedi Knights within the New Republic military, but was unable to get any real results with the military because of the Republic's general lack of resources. His efforts were further impeded by Viqi Shesh's duplicitous relationship with the Yuuzhan Vong, claiming that SELCORE resources were better used on other worlds. As the war against the Yuuzhan Vong continued, it was Kenth who discovered that the Senate, under the auspices of Borsk Fey'lya, had issued a warrant for the arrest of Luke Skywalker. Kenth warned Luke and his wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, about the impending arrest, allowing them time to escape from Coruscant. In the months that followed, Kenth served as the official liaison between the Jedi and the New Republic, working to help the Jedi receive aid and authorization to continue the fight against the alien invaders. For his efforts during the struggles that surrounded the Second Battle of Coruscant, Kenth was elevated to the rank of Jedi Master. When the Galactic Alliance was formed on Calamari by Cal Omas, Kenth was appointed as one of the Jedi to serve on the Advisory Council established by Omas. As the war ground on, Kenth found himself the nominal leader of the Jedi Knights when Luke and Mara set out to locate the living planet of Zonama Sekot. When they failed to return, or even to send word of their situation, Kenth began to worry. After intelligence from now-captured Coruscant revealed that the Yuuzhan Vong Prophet, Yu'shaa, had returned from Zonama Sekot, Hamner gathered the remaining Jedi leaders together to plan a mission to Coruscant. There, they hoped to gain an audience with the Prophet to learn what they could of the events on Zonama Sekot.
