The mainstream press gave a lot of attention to Star Wars Rebels ahead of its Friday night premiere. Here are some of the stories that we saw.

  • Freddie Prinze Jr. dueled Queen Latifah and talked about his daughter's affinity for the dark side on The Queen Latifah Show.
  • USA Today talked to Dave Filoni about the old-school lightsaber design that CG supervisor Joel Aron whipped up for the series. Included in the story is a video of Aron demoing his work for A New Hope set decorator Roger Christian.
  • Good Morning America, on Disney network ABC, spotlighted the premiere of the series.
  • The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette interviewed Dave Filoni, a native of Mt. Lebanon, PA, about his goals for the series.
  • Access Hollywood posted its interviews from the Los Angeles premiere's red carpet.
  • Dave Filoni told Collider about Star Wars Rebels' Easter eggs, animation technology improvements, and more.
  • The series got a strong review in the Fresno Bee, whose TV critic also talked to series star Vanessa Marshall.
  • The New York Times says that Rebels "looks like it will be a smart and sensitive piece of entertainment."
  • TV.com reviewed the premiere and observed that "there's a real sense of freedom to the show."
  • The Los Angeles Times looks at the Ralph McQuarrie influences in Rebels.
