George Lucas Comments Briefly On His Original Plan For Episode VII
USA Today's Brian Truitt spoke to George Lucas about Strange Magic, the Lucasfilm animated movie based on Lucas' ideas that hits theaters January 23. Because no interview with Lucas is complete without at least one Star Wars-related quote, Truitt managed to tease the following interesting tidbit out of The Maker:
Lucas already started to develop the next three Star Wars films, but he knew a third trilogy was a 10-year commitment at least. He at first expected to finish Episode VII, release it in May 2015 and then sell the company afterward.Lucas also spoke about his kids, the youngest of whom, Everest, was conceived via a surrogate in August 2013.
But Disney expressed interest and came along at the right moment, Lucas says. "It's better for me to get out at the beginning of a new thing and I can just remove myself.
"The time is more important to me than the money."
