Rumor: EA Planning Open-World Star Wars Game

Posted by Eric on November 27, 2013 at 12:05 PM CST

Kotaku spotted a job listing for an "Animation Director, STAR WARS" at EA Canada that mentioned "a major new next gen open world action game." Combine that with another listing for a Lead Combat Designer, which a former EA recruiter tweeted about using the hashtag #StarWars, and you've got the makings of a solid rumor.

While EA's DICE studio is working on the new Star Wars: Battlefront game, its Visceral Games studio, based in Redwood Shores, California, is rumored to be developing its own Star Wars title.

Kotaku suggests that this open-world game may be Visceral's project, given that another EA Canada job posting for an "Executive Producer Star Wars" is an exact duplicate of an "Executive Producer Star Wars" listing at Visceral. It's possible that the EA Canada and Visceral are working together on this open-world game; the Canadian animation director job listing says "Experience with multi-site development a plus."

Head over to Kotaku for their full report.
