On the eve of Star Wars Rebels, which will mark Disney's first major project in the GFFA, the Wall Street Journal spotlights Lucasfilm Vice President of Development Kiri Hart, who has been tasked by Kathleen Kennedy with overseeing the direction of the franchise.

In an article about Disney's plans for Star Wars expansion and a Q&A with Hart, the Journal describes her role at Lucasfilm and how she helps select the writers and directors who are working on the franchise behind the scenes.

Hart said she's "crazily passionate about this idea of narratives travelling across different platforms," calling the idea of a fully-canon shared universe "a golden opportunity."

Although much of the content being previewed and discussed right now is oriented toward the original trilogy, Hart said that she is well aware of passion for other time periods.

"I certainly am experiencing in talking to creative people a lot of interest in all areas of the “Star Wars” timeline," she said. "I think as we keep going we want to explore, to let the idea lead and then go with that."

In the Journal's main story on Disney's plans, Hart mentions that she has been "sitting down with filmmakers and writers, talking with them about what they love about 'Star Wars,' and playing matchmaker."

Hart and a "team of five" -- the Lucasfilm Story Group -- are said to be "putting tighter parameters on the fictional timeline."

"We say, 'Let us give you some narrative space to play around in,'" Hart told the Journal.
