The final day for submission to The Star Wars Fan Awards is September 17th. Fans can submit either a long or short video, PLUS visual art and photography! Details below.

Q: Can I use footage from the Star Wars films in my own film?
A: You cannot use any video footage from the Star Wars films in your own film. You will have access to a sound asset pack which includes official Lucasfilm music and special effect soundclips, as well as music and special effect soundclips licensed to Lucasfilm IP. You can also include officially licensed Star Wars toys, costumes, accessories, clothing, home furnishings, or kitchenware.

Q: What file size and type of file can I submit?
A: Videos must be under 500MB and can be submitted in the following formats: .avi, .mov, .mpg, and .m4v formats. Photos and Visual Art must be under 10MB in file size and can submitted in the following formats: .jpeg, .jpg, .png, and .pdf formats.

Q: Can I submit to multiple categories within a genre?
A: When you submit, you cannot choose what categories your submission will be considered for. It will automatically be considered for all categories in a genre. You can submit 1 entry in each of the following 4 genres: Long Video, Short Video, Visual Art, and Photo.

Q: What are the Finalist Confirmation and Winner Confirmation periods?
A: During the Finalist Confirmation and Winner Confirmation periods, potential finalists and potential winners will be contacted by the contest administrator, LeadDog, to request written copies of release forms for their submission. Please make sure your email and contact info are up-to-date in your Star Wars account, in case you are notified.

Q: Can I get an extension on the submission deadline if I have technical difficulties?
A: No, unfortunately you cannot get an extension on the submission period because of technical difficulties. Please begin the submission process with plenty of time in case you encounter a problem uploading.

Q: Can a team of people enter a submission together?

A: A group or team of people can work on a submission together but one individual, usually the project manager, will submit the entry and collect the award in the event the submission is a winner.

Q: Can 1 piece of work be submitted to multiple genres?

A: You can submit one piece of work to multiple qualifiying genres. However, the piece will be judged differently based on the genre. For example, a photo of a cosplay project can be submitted to both Photography and Visual Arts, but will be judged on different criteria for each.

Q: Can children under the age of 18 be included in entries?
A: Children under the age of 18 may be included in entries. Written approval for use of likeness needs to be provided by everyone to appear in an entry, with parental consent documented for anyone under the age of 18.
