It was a late night on Saturday, May 4th and one worth staying up for. After hitting comic book stores, Disney and other various retail outlets to snatch up all the cool Star Wars Day merchandise, it was on to the Tampa Bay Times Forum in downtown Tampa, FL to watch the Tampa Bay Storm take on the New Orleans Voodoo.
Members from the 501st Legion Tampa Bay Squad and Rebel Legion donned their movie accurate costumes to thrill fans and help celebrate Star Wars Day.

Members from the
Star Wars Grand Florida Alliance set up outside in the plaza prior to the game to help spread the love of
Star Wars.

Prior to the game, Storm fans were treated to a barrage of
Star Wars characters outside the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Once inside, it was down to the first level to mingle with fans in the end zone and VIP lounge.

Imperial Stormtroopers are known for getting less than spectacular benefits and this does come up from time to time. For a moment, I thought we were going to have a mutiny on our hands! In the end, the officers did come to an agreement with the Stormtroopers and everyone continued on in their service to the Empire as usual.

Meanwhile, up on the 4th floor in the VIP Club Level, official
Star Wars artists
Michael "Locoduck" Duron and
Vanessa "Banky" Farano were pleasing the crowds and kept a very long line all night. They both did some real nice promo artwork specially for the event.

The characters continued posing in various places around the Forum delighting children and adults alike.

A quick trip down to the lower level to wait for a real fun moment as everyone gathered for what was the highlight of
Star Wars Night. During the halftime show, one lucky fan who purchased the VIP
Star Wars package won 4 passes to Disney's
Star Wars Weekends! We brought all the characters out on the field for this announcement which got a nice reaction from the crowd.

Fans that purchased the VIP ticket package received a cool licensed t-shirt exclusive for
Star Wars Day and the first 150 people to check in at #StormSocial Central in Section 128 got this special limited edition button.

The Force was with the Storm as they destroyed the Voodoo 63-32. This would be the second year in a row that
Star Wars Night has
propelled a Tampa team to the win at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Perhaps we have started a tradition?
