Star Wars Franchise Records Massive Retail Sales In 2012

Jedi News points us to a press release from The Licensing Letter that highlights some impressive numbers for the Star Wars franchise. In 2012, the franchise earned $1.467 billion in merchandise sales, making it the second-most profitable property on TLL's Top 10 Licensed Entertainment/Character Properties list for the U.S. Canada. The most profitable property? Disney Princess.

Ira Mayer of TLL writes, "With its acquisitions in recent years of Marvel and Lucasfilm, Disney now accounts for 51% of The Licensing Letter's estimated retail sales for the $100 million-plus properties."
