Star Wars: Episode VII Filming Caught On Drone Video, In Pictures

Posted by Eric on September 12, 2014 at 06:53 AM CST

In the age of drones and incredibly long zoom lenses, it shouldn't surprise us that people are capturing remarkably close views of the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. The fact that it took this long is a testament to the diligence of the film crew. But they can't prevent every observer from observing, and now that filming is taking place in the public park of Greenham Common in the UK, it seems their privacy shields are failing.

This morning, a Twitter user pointed me to several new photos of Episode VII extras in costume and a new vehicle.

On the same Facebook page that's hosting these photos, the poster, Rick Lawrence, shared several videos showing extras filming scenes.

And as if that weren't good enough, Making Star Wars flagged for us a video of the set shot from a drone. You can just make out the tiny little extras scurrying around the set as a scene is filmed.

We are truly living in wondrous, or awful, times, depending on how you look at all these leaks.
