R2-D2 Easter Egg in Star Trek Into Darkness

Posted by Dustin on September 11, 2013 at 09:43 PM CST

When the original JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot hit theaters a rumor surfaced that R2-D2 was hidden somewhere within the film. There was even a contest to see who could locate him first. Below is the screen shot showing R2-D2 in the space battle debris field.

Star Trek Into Darkness, the latest Star Trek film also features our friendly, feisty astromech making another appearance. It seems he is located in another debris field this time, but still, he's there. So two for two to date, and I'm sure if there's a third they'll be sure to keep with what is becoming a tradition. Check the screen shot below for a peek at where you can see R2-D2 in the new Star Trek film.

It will be interesting to see if any Star Trek makes it way into the new Star Wars film JJ is working on. Only time will tell, but from his current track record I'm guessing we will.

R2, call me, you need a better agent.
