More Details About What Star Wars: 1313 Would Have Been Like

LucasArts' massive and much-hyped video game Star Wars: 1313 may have been shelved following the game studio's closure, but details about the game mechanics, including concept art and story information, have continued to leak out.

Now, IGN brings us a detailed, illustrated report about a 15-minute 1313 demo that they were recently shown. They don't provide the video, but they do explain -- and, with new concept art, show off -- how the game would have begun and how its environments would have looked:

Star Wars 1313 would have begun with a prologue on Tattooine. Various bounty hunters seen in the game would have worked for different crime bosses, and Boba Fett unsurprisingly served Jabba the Hutt. Here we see a young Fett very early in the game, long before he even has his Mandalorian armor, instead wearing only his most basic outfit.

Our source explained that at one point in the story, Fett would also end up in layer 1314. While 1313 is a corrupt metropolis controlled by crime families, 1314 is a rarely-explored slum that has been shrouded for years in complete darkness. Part of the story of Star Wars 1313 would have seen Fett fighting his way through layer 1314 in search of his bounty.

Star Wars 1313, as suggested by the E3 trailer, featured a ton of huge action set pieces and Uncharted-like platforming. The shot seen here is straight from the 15-minute demo we saw, with Fett hanging from a drain pipe. As he’s climbing, the pipe bursts, falling downward and forcing Fett to find a new place to grip. Our source tells us these scripted sequences would have been common, and the E3 trailer is a great indication of some of the high-tension moments we might have seen in the finished product.
We've included one piece of Coruscant underworld concept art above, but for much more information and art from Star Wars: 1313, head over to IGN's report.

UPDATE: We've just received a tip from a TFN reader who is also part of Lucasfilm's Obi Wants To Know Me online feedback community. They write:
Star Wars 1313 may not be dead.

In May of this past year Obi Wants to Know Me conducted an extensive survey of video games and potential ideas for future releases and the types of platform releases. Surprisingly one game which was specifically featured by name was Star Wars 1313. Based on the questions and the direction these questions were leading it appeared Star Wars 1313 was possibly going to be repurposed for some other release. They asked which characters would you like featured in the game, and specifically asked if certain characters would make you more or less likely to buy the game.

This may all have changed in the last three months, but given the new release of the video from LucasArts they may be testing the waters again to gage general interest in this game.
We'll keep you posted as we learn more.
