Is Everyone's Favorite Protocol Droid In Solo: A Star Wars Story?

Posted by Steve on May 8, 2018 at 09:23 AM CST

Mark Hamill, certainly recently, has a habit of speaking his mind when it comes to the topic of Star Wars. His blunt thoughts on Rian Johnson's take on Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi landed him in a bit of hot water and he was forced to explain his words several times throughout press tours for that film.

As we approach the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story it seems Hamill has done it again. While speaking to the "Cape Up" podcast, from his home no less, Hamill let slip that we could see a certain droid in the upcoming film...

“Tony Daniels is so happy ’cause he’s in every single ‘Star Wars’ movie. Every single one. All the prequels. He’s in ‘Rogue One,’ He’s in ‘Solo,’” Hamill said, “Whoops! I hope that’s not... ”

He is of course referring to Anthony Daniels who has been playing the incomparable C-3PO since A New Hope in 1977 and every single Star Wars film since including 2016's Rogue One. In fact he holds the record for appearing in the most Star Wars film s to date.

Hamill would continue to say while doing a bit of damage control...

“That’s not such a reveal,” Hamill said, “All ‘Star Wars’ fans expect him to be in every movie.”

So there you have it. If you take Hamill at his word, expect to see C-3PO appear in his tenth Star Wars film with Mr. Daniels donning the gold plated costume once more. How much he'll be in the film we of course don't know, some of his past appearances have been a blink and you'll miss it type of thing. Since 3PO and Han Solo don't have any real history prior to 1977's A New Hope, I can't imagine it being much more than a quick cameo.

We'll find out on May 25th when Solo: A Star Wars Story open around the world. Tickets are on sale now and they're selling fast!

Till next time...MTFBWY.
