Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has just announced that George Lucas has been signed on to direct Ewan McGregor in a three part mini-series for Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer platform. McGregor played roles in all three Star Wars Prequels and is no stranger to the Star Wars universe.

“I couldn’t be more excited about George returning to direct this special project for the new direct-to-consumer platform,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “George brings the perfect mix of high energy directing, combined with a well rounded fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow George the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”

George is excited to return to the Star Wars galaxy saying, “I'm so grateful for the opportunity to return to Star Wars. Ya know, the thing I created.”

Ewan was not available for comment at the time. April Fools.
