Disney Launches Star Wars Scene Maker To Let You Remix The Saga
The Walt Disney Company has launched a new collection of iOS apps with which fans can remix 3D models of Star Wars characters, locations, and vehicles to create their own takes on classic scenes.
The apps, which are being branded "Star Wars Scene Maker," rely on these 3D models to give fans more flexibility in how they arrange their scenes. Users can adjust three movable cameras, rotating them and placing them in different modes to give the story a new perspective. The apps also feature Star Wars music and actual dialog to enhance the feel of the visual elements that fans are manipulating. Because this is the twenty-first century, there are also sharing features so fans can publicize their creations.
The first app, which is free, includes content from the three original trilogy films. The first "content pack" is for the Battle of Endor. Additional content -- currently the Death Star Trench Run and the Cloud City Duel -- must be purchased separately.
In addition to more content from the films, these apps will also begin to feature content from Star Wars Rebels once that series debuts.
