As Dust Settles From Big Casting Reveal, One Big Role May Remain Unfilled
When Lucasfilm announced the cast of Star Wars Episode VII today, the Internet basically broke. Perhaps the most surprising part of the announcement was that it only included one new female cast member: Daisy Ridley.
The idea of this new slate of Star Wars characters containing only one woman has been roundly criticized. But if a story on The Hollywood Reporter's website this evening is to be believed, Daisy Ridley may not be alone for long.
"Several sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that director J.J. Abrams has another substantial role to fill — and it's a female part," according to THR's Borys Kit. The story, however, offers no additional information.
