After 10 years of online content for their Star Wars Roleplaying Game license, Wizards of the Coast has removed all their Star Wars updates/adventures/miniatures/previews from their website.
Wizards of the Coast, which took over the RPG licence from West End Games late 1999, announced on January 28, 2010 that their Star Wars licence would end in May:
There have been several questions lately regarding the future of the Star Wars Miniatures and Roleplaying Game and until now I haven?t had definitive answers to give you. After a lengthy evaluation, Wizards of the Coast has decided not to renew the Star Wars license with Lucasfilm. We?ve had a long and fantastic run, but with the economic downturn, we have made the tough decision to discontinue our Star Wars lines.
The license officially ends in May this year, with WotC product available through August.
The last online update was on May 4, with Patrick Stutzman's Message to Spacers 10: Suwantek Systems TL-1800 Transport.
Today, with the removal of their online Star Wars domain (www.wizards.com/starwars), the Wizards' Star Wars-era has come to an end.
I'm sure gonna miss their online updates...
UPDATE:WotC_Trevor from the Wizards forums communicatiom team, posted the following message:
Hey all. As you probably already know, our contract with Star Wars is ending in May. As part of that, we'll need to discontinue our Star Wars website. That is most likely going to happen later today.
Now we've already grabbed a lot of the information from the pages, such as FAQs, articles, and other info, and we'll be parsing out what we have and posting up the important bits in the forums as sticky threads throughout the next couple weeks. This is also your last chance to copy and paste your favorite pages to make sure you always have your favorite articles.
We will definitely maintain these forums as a place to talk about your SW games and all the SW products we've produced, and you should see us posting up some of the more basic FAQ and errata documents in the next few days.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
