Watch Episode II DVD on a DLP Projector Posted By Joshua on October 3, 2002
The NY Times has a new article on a consumer-level DLP projector to play Star Wars on this November. Thanks to Darknupe for the news!
When George Lucas was making the latest, entirely digital "Star Wars" film, he viewed rushes with projectors based on Texas Instruments' Digital Light Processing, or D.L.P., technology.
Sharp Electronics has introduced a portable tabletop projector that allows consumers to use the same technology, which is basically an array of tilting, microscopic mirrors, to view the final results of Mr. Lucas's efforts.
"D.L.P. has been around for a couple of years now, but it has been out of reach for most consumers,'' said Michael Amkreutz, Sharp's director of display devices. "For about the price of a 57-inch projector television, consumers can buy this projector."
