UPDATE: Millennium Falcon by James Luceno Posted By Paul on May 4, 2008
The Random House website has listings up for an audiobook called Millennium Falcon by James Luceno. It's listed for 30th December, as both a CD ($39.95) and download ($20).
The Star Wars line hasn't released stand-alone audiobooks before, and it's been a while since they've given us a radio drama, so it's relatively likely that this is an audiobook version of an up-coming novel or short story.
If it is a new Star Wars novel, it's also reasonably likely that it represents the new contract that's been kept under wraps for the past few months, and the fact that it's on the Random House website hints that DelRey (a Random House subsidiary) will remain as Lucas Books' partner for the next tranche of novels.
Neither of those speculations is in any way confirmed, though. Keep watching for more news - or, while you wait, head over to TF.N's message-boards, where a poster called snooty30 first pointed out the CD in this thread, and Lord_Hydronium followed up by finding the download: kudos to both of them!
UPDATE: people who've found early copies of the new "Legacy of the Force" novel Invincible are reporting that there's an advert for Millennium Falcon in the back of that book.
So, this is now essentially confirmed as a new hardcover novel, and given its release date, it's probably also the first hardcover of a new DelRey contract.
I'd love to tell you more, but the blurb also talks about the ending of Invincible itself, and it contains MAJOR spoilers about the plot and climax of that book, and I'm not posting those here.
If you still really want to read the blurb, then you can head over to the discussion thread for Invincible on TF.N's "Jedi Council" message boards, and pick the blurb out from amongst the REST of the extensive spoilers for that novel, here.
I'll also provide a link to the page for Millennium Falcon on the Star Wars wiki, Wookieepedia. That page is a rather simpler way of finding the blurb, but due to the content of the blurb itself, scarcely less spoilerific for Invincible: here.
