Posted By Dustin on February 8, 2002

It's finally here! The official Toy Fair 2002 Hasbro press release!

Hasbro Introduces Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones Toys & Games for Fans of All Ages At Toy Fair 2002

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 2002--Diverse Product Line Brings Innovation and Excitement to Fans of All Ages

As kids and Star Wars fans of all ages eagerly await the release of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones on May 16, 2002, Hasbro, Inc., (NYSE:HAS) will unveil its exciting line of toys and games based on the film at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.

Imaginations of Star Wars fans everywhere will take flight on April 23, when Hasbro's exclusive product line is scheduled to become available at retailers nationwide. With products designed to continue the fantasy of Star Wars for the young and young at heart, Hasbro's 2002 product line includes toys and games across a broad array of categories, including action figures and vehicles, role-play sets, board games, hand-held electronics and trading card games.

"Star Wars is one of the most popular and successful entertainment properties of all time and we are very excited about the debut of our Attack of the Clones product line," said Brian Goldner, President of Hasbro's U.S. toys group. "We have worked closely with both LucasFilm Licensing and retailers to develop a product line that offers exciting play features for kids, while also providing products that we are confident collectors will love."

"Hasbro's new Episode II product line brings the Star Wars experience alive in exciting and innovative ways for both kids and the avid collector," said Jim Silver, publisher of Toy Wishes. "The line keys in on product categories that are the strengths for past Star Wars merchandising. One strong example is Hasbro's action figures, which are packed with great new play value that will bring the fantasy to a new level for kids."

There is something in Hasbro's Star Wars line to help every fan, new and old, re-live the fantasy. Hasbro's Star Wars action figure and vehicle line is an integrated play system allowing for the most awesome Star Wars play experience. New action figures put the power of "The Force" into kids hands with animated "force" and "flipping" features, and Hasbro's vehicles are more action-packed than ever before. Plus, kids will be able to have their very own R2-D2 INTERACTIVE ASTROMECH DROID that answers to their call, obeys their commands and shows the spunk that made R2-D2 famous! And, for fans that want to keep all of their Star Wars characters and facts in order, a handheld JEDI DEX is brimming with essential information, a trivia game and organizer functions.

For Star Wars game fans, Wizards of the Coast is introducing a trading card game that gives collectors and strategy game fans a new way to relive the action and adventures. Hasbro Games will unveil GAME OF LIFE: A JEDI'S PATH that brings Star Wars excitement to a childhood classic. And an all-new Star Wars preschool line from the PLAYSKOOL brand brings the fantasy to budding fans.

Additional details of key offerings from Hasbro's Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones product line includes:

STAR WARS TRADING CARD GAME: ATTACK OF THE CLONES:

This Wizard of the Coast game's innovative game mechanic enhances the rich Star Wars experience by allowing players to plan and execute the high-stakes gambits and intense action of a climactic Star Wars battle. Card sets (one Light side, one Dark side) for the Star Wars TCG will draw content from every Star Wars era, including the Star Wars movies and the Star Wars expanded universe. The first Star Wars trading card game release, which includes content from the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, is designed by Richard Garfield. (Approximate Retail Price: 2-player Starter - $6.99; 5-card booster - $1.49; Ages: 10 & up)

GAME OF LIFE: A JEDI'S PATH

Jedi Knight or Sith Lord? Awesome warrior or mystical thinker? These are the choices players face in GAME OF LIFE: A JEDI'S PATH. As players move their aspiring Jedi around the board (passing tests, doing battle, learning lessons, going on missions, and building their light-sabers), they build their connection to the Force in four ways - Logic, Intuition, Fighting, and Energy. Along the way, players can choose the Jedi path or the riskier/quicker "Dark Path." But be careful, once you go down the dark side, there may not be redemption for you. At the end of the game, the mightiest Jedi and the darkest Sith square off to determine the most powerful Force-user in the Galaxy. (Approximate Retail Price: $19.99; Ages: 9 and up; Players: 2 to 4)

STAR WARS - EPIC DUELS

The Star Wars movies are filled with classic one-on-one duels and now fans can relive these movie moments...and even create never-before-seen battles. The Star Wars EPIC DUELS game allows fans to pit almost any Star Wars character against another. Game play takes place on one of four battle venues and players chose their character from one of 30-plus painted figures. Each character comes with its own card deck and strategy.
