Tidbits from SMPTE Seminar Posted By Joshua on October 15, 2002
Amaised sends us this report from the SMPTE Seminar recently in California. Severel new tidbits in this report, and more talk of deleted scenes as well:
I attended the smtpe seminar on Attack of the Clones, and let me just say that it was awesome. They showed a lot of raw footage that never made it into the movie. These scenes included: Mace Windu's Office, Obi-wan's room on Kamino, c3p0 getting his coverings put on, incomplete c3po at the lars homestead, Dooku using force pull to grab a second saber during yoda fight. They also showed us "state of the art" the documentary on animatics that will be on the DVD Nov. 12th, it too was awesome and ran about 20 minutes.
They also showed an original print from ANH to show the degradation of the film. It was a version that did not have Ep. 4 on the scrolling title. Attending this made me appreciate 10 times more the effects that went into the film. It was truely amazing. Rob Coleman talked about how nervous he was to animate Yoda. He didn't want to screw it up and be known as the man who ruined Yoda. He said he had just finished therapy following the Jar Jar disaster! John Knoll stated that he would of prefered filming clone troopers as live action with people in costumes, but George Lucas was insistant that they would all be digital. Rick McCallum and all of the speakers were extremely accessible for questions and was extremely friendly to everyone.
Oh yeah, Rick McCallum confirmed that Steven Speilberg has agreed to shoot Indy 4 digitally, but told us that he would rather have Spielberg be the one to break the news to us. They also mentioned that they have developed and even better digital camera to capture Episode III on.
They also mentioned that they are currently designing several planets and their habitats in pre-production and stated that they are about 20 percent into that phase.
Overall, the day was awesome.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
